The AB540 Project hosts the Annual Educator’s Conference to inform educators how they can assist the undocumented students in their institutions. Los Angeles, CA – Dream Team Los Angeles along with Los Angeles based grassroots community organizations will hold a press conference and rally in response to the 2 million deportations overseen by President Obama which are facilitated by the collaboration between local law enforcement and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The event is part of a national movement to demand that President Obama use his executive power to put a stop to all deportations and will highlightthe impact of deportations at the local level. In January 2013 alone, almost 2,000 people in California were deported through the infamous and wrongfully named “Secure” Communities program. Los Angeles County has the highest rate of deportations, higher than Maricopa County in Arizona.

The 6th Annual Immigrant Youth Empowerment Conference informs the community about undocumented student-related issues regarding legislation, fundraising, and advocacy. With new policies like Deferred Action and the renewed fight for immigration reform, this event is designed to empower undocumented youth to pursue their dreams and effect positivity in their communities.
